Founder's Reflection

This is the Time.

This is the place where European aesthetics meet California-style comfort and New York energy.

This is my story—and the story behind Sage Collection's authentic identity.

It’s a long one, but let me keep it short :)

I was born and raised at the crossroads of cultures, where European elegance mingles with traditional lifestyles. My journey begins with my mom, a uniquely talented tailor with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. After a brief stint teaching math, she kept her interest in designing and crafting unique pieces. I still vividly remember sitting beside her, mesmerized by the designs in Burda Style magazines and the rhythm of her sewing machine.

As a child, art was my sanctuary, providing me with relief and joy during school art classes. I still cherish the memories of knitting sweaters and designing my 'Heidi skirt'—a name I playfully gave to the skirt I designed and persuaded my mom to sew. Hours in the wood painting studio would pass in a blur, and I’d often lose track of time... My middle school art teacher was one of my greatest supporters, urging my mom to enroll me in an art-focused high school. But after ranking at the top in my city in the national high school exam, the decision was clear—I was destined for a science high school, far removed from my creative roots.

Later, during the college decision-making period, my heart leaned toward design, but the practical advice of those around me prevailed: 'Pursue a science path and keep your passion as a hobby.' Like many young talents in developing countries, I chose the "safe" route, studying economics and setting aside my creative dreams.

After moving to Silicon Valley, I followed the practical path again, working in big tech companies and excelling in data science. DS was my favorite area in tech, and the years went by. Time flew until the birth of my second child, when I decided to take a break from corporate life and care for my baby for a couple of years. This break gave me something invaluable: time to reflect. I began dreaming again—about life, about myself, and about the creative spark I had buried under years of practicality. While I had already lost my sketching skills during my time in tech, I witnessed the courage of people who built startups by following their dreams. I realized how my journey had authentically shaped my identity. That’s when everything changed. We took a bold leap and moved from California to the New York Metropolitan Area. For the first time in years, I decided to give my dreams a real chance.

I have been observing and experiencing firsthand how difficult it is to find high-quality, modest pieces made from natural fabrics. Polyester dominates the market, and modest styles often feel outdated. Like many, I turned to brands outside the U.S. because I couldn’t find what I was looking for locally. After surveying hundreds of people, I realized I wasn’t alone. Countless women shared this frustration, and I began dreaming of creating a go-to modest brand that would meet the needs of all women, including those who prefer to dress modestly. Through God’s guidance, I was fortunate to meet talented and experienced people who helped bring this dream to life. I believe that “a woman is another woman’s home”. I’m grateful for the incredible women who have been my home, and I hope to be that for others.

This is how Sage Collection was born.

Thank you for reading my story and for being part of our vibrant, diverse community!
